Viking is celebrating a historic milestone as the Viking Yi Dun completed its inaugural voyage from Shanghai to Hong Kong (Shenzhen). This marks Viking’s return to China with new itineraries that offer international travellers a unique opportunity to explore China’s coast, featuring rarely visited destinations and exclusive ports. A New Chapter in Chinese Exploration The Viking Yi Dun, formerly known as the Viking Sun, is now dedicated to domestic sailings along China’s coast. Operating from September to November, this 930-guest ship offers an unparalleled experience with its award-winning design and service, mirroring the excellence of Viking’s Ocean fleet. “With its ancient history and rich culture, China is a phenomenal destination that many curious travellers have not yet had the opportunity to experience,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “For 15 years, we introduced China to guests on our Yangtze River itineraries. We are proud to offer these exclusive domestic sailings in China, and we look forward to welcoming people to this part of the world in the Viking way.” A Grand Celebration in Shanghai The launch of Viking’s new China itineraries was celebrated in Shanghai with local officials and cultural performances, both shoreside and onboard. The Viking Yi Dun received a warm welcome at ports in Zhoushan, Dongtou, Pingtan, Xiamen, and Shenzhen, with local partners and residents joining the festivities.
