Bush expresses his deep sadness about the situation in Afghanistan

Former US President George W. Bush said he and former first lady Laura Bush were "deeply saddened" by the development of events in Afghanistan.

"Laura and I watch the unfolding of the tragic events in Afghanistan with deep sadness," Bush Jr. said in a statement issued late Monday. Our hearts go out to the Afghan people who have suffered so much, and to the Americans and NATO partners who have sacrificed so much.”
