In a technical post , the company explains the difference in method in detecting, downloading and installing updates in Windows 11, compared to Windows 10.
Using several diagrams, Microsoft shows how the Windows Update process calculated a delta in Windows 10 1809 and later. From this discrepancy, a cumulative update was prepared.
With Windows 11, method change. Called “reverse update data generation”, it allows you to calculate deltas without needing specific data for this task. A gentler method on the client side, but more intensive on the servers.
According to Microsoft, this type of effort is essential so that all machines can be served in good conditions, including where connections are underperforming or subject to quotas.
