Man suspected of driving around Concord with emergency lights, siren, handcuffs

A man caught with a radio, a badge holder and handcuffs during a traffic stop in Concord was arrested for impersonating a police officer, police said.

The arrest came earlier this week. Police did not specify when and where exactly it happened in a statement released on social media but said they found the man in the city’s Valley District.

Police caught the man after somebody called emergency dispatchers and reported a white sedan was driving with emergency lights activated.

Officers converged on the area and found a Hyundai Accent matching the description.

According to police, officers upon approaching the car saw that it had emergency lights and a siren and the word “police” marked on the side.

Police urged people who may have been pulled over by the vehicle to call them at 925-671-3333.
