Ed Sheeran performed on stage in New York City on Sunday to celebrate the launch of his new album Equals at the Butterfly. 

The singer, 30, revealed last month that he had been isolating due to contracting Covid-19

He looked in good spirits at the Spotify event where he chatted over a meal before taking to the stage with an acoustic guitar.

Ed sang his heart out at the performance then later took photos with with a crowd fans. 

The A Team hitmaker opted for a casual look for the intimate gig wearing an orange hoodie and black trousers. 

His new album was released on October 29 which featured songs such as Bad Habits and Shivers.  

The much-anticipated release quickly became number 1 in the UK.

While in the city, he also appeared on Saturday Night Live which was hosted by Succession’s Kieran Culkin.

Ed was seen exiting the studio in style as he wore Stone Island cargo trousers and a shearling jacket. 

He wore yellow and black Nike trainers as he carried an iPad in his hand. 

The Shape of You singer was forced to isolate with his daughter Lyra, 14 months, who also tested positive for the virus.

He took to Instagram to inform his followers that he’s ‘had the all-clear’ and has now been released from isolation.

The songwriter wrote: ‘Posting this pic to say I’m released from Covid isolation today, so if you see me out and about I’ve had the all-clear and done my quarantine.

‘Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday, see you there.’

Ed discussed his isolation stint during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show – which aired on Saturday. 

He explained: ‘It was just me and my daughter in the house and my wife lived next door for a bit.

‘My wife had been away when I got diagnosed with it [so] she’d cook us dinner and drop it off. It was actually really nice to have one-on-one time [with my daughter].’

Ed went on: ‘To do 10 days uninterrupted was pretty fun. She’s 14 months. Walking everywhere.’

As for his symptoms, Ed told host Jonathan: ‘I had headaches, aches, tight chest, cough, couldn’t taste.’

Ever the jokester, Ed added: ‘I did get a vindaloo in. They say you can’t taste, but there’s still the sweat and the heat.’
