Manhunt underway after shots fired at police in Boronia, Melbourne  

A manhunt is underway after shots were fired at police officers in Melbourne.

A team of police gathered near Boronia Road, Boronia on Saturday morning, and streets have been cordoned off. 

Officers have been going from house to house in Melbourne’s east searching for the gunman.  

It is understood residents in Tulip Crescent and Stonehaven Avenue were told to stay indoors until further notice.

When officers arrived at the scene they were approached by the man who opened fire. The man then fled, he was last seen in Tulip Crescent

The chaos unfolded at 2.10am on Saturday after reports a man was armed with a firearm.

When officers arrived at the scene they were approached by the man who opened fire. The man then fled, he was last seen in Tulip Crescent.

No one was injured during the shooting. 

‘There is no ongoing threat to the community and the investigation continues,’ a Victoria Police statement said.
