TikTok is testing the new watch history feature with some users to allow them to find videos that appeared on the For You page and didn't have a chance to save them.

Accidentally updating the For You page and missing the video before you even had a chance to like it is a common problem for users. This is due to the continuous streaming of content across the platform.

It appears that the platform is looking to solve this problem by adding this potential feature.

When asked if the company plans to expand testing and roll out the feature to more users, the platform said in an email that it had nothing more to share about testing at this time.

A TikTok spokesperson said: “We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience.

Twitter user Hammod Oh , who often reveals features that are currently being tested by social media platforms, first discovered the feature, which was then highlighted by social media consultant Matt Navarra.

Screenshots posted by Hammod Oh and other users indicate that a user's viewing history can be accessed in the "Content and Activity" section of the app's settings.

Tik Tok wants to make it easier to discover missing clips

The test comes after some users of the platform found alternative solutions to help find lost videos.

Earlier this year, a user of the platform posted a video guiding users through the process of detecting a missing video on Tik Tok.

The video directs users to go to the Discover page, click Search, and enter an asterisk. Then go to the search filters tab and turn on the “Videos Watched” button.

Once you click on Apply, you will get a list of the videos you have watched in the past seven days. The video has since gained massive views, been viewed more than 32 million times and garnered more than 5.5 million likes.

But this method is not the only way that users have discovered the lost videos.

A workaround guides users through the entire process of downloading their data from the app to access a zip file that shows video browsing history.

The watch history feature should make finding videos simpler and eliminate the need for such solutions.
